It’s that time of year again when we look back at the last twelve months of weddings in Ireland (and one in London) and pick out my favourite images. I’d originally planned to pick out 52 images (one for each week of the year) but that proved too difficult. So here’s my personal top 100 instead!
We’ve had some really fantastic clients this year. In addition to a couple of really gorgeous city weddings in Belfast and Dublin I’ve travelled far and wide all over Ireland. From North Antrim and Donegal to the western corners of Galway and down as far as County Kilkenny – my little black Mini Cooper really has racked up some miles this year.
Highlights for me were Alice and Alex’s recent wedding in Connemara, Jade and Aidan’s gorgeous outdoor event at Castle Ward at the start of the summer, meeting all of the Australians and Kiwis at Heidi and James’s wedding at Palmerstown House. Photographing the raucous Americans at Emily and Chris’s wedding down in Galway at the start of September and I loved the elegance and style at Anne and Gerard’s wedding in Carton House in early October. The amazing weather Rebecca and David had at Bellinter House in August and the warmth of the welcome from Geraldine and Padraig’s families and friends at their wedding in Leitrim in the summer. Ciaran and Marzena’s lovely wedding in August in Kilkenny was a real treat and getting to stay a few days at Mount Juliet with Caroline. Getting to wander literally around the corner from my home in Carrickfergus to start my coverage of Janice and Gary’s wedding day was my second local wedding of 2016. And this year also saw several amazing Castle Leslie weddings and Julia and Brian’s beautifully romantic wedding in Larchfield Estate was one of my early favourites.
This year I really enjoyed getting to meet some old friends and family of former clients whose weddings I’ve photographed in the past – that for me, is always a big thrill. I loved the late evening stroll with Hannah and Ben along the promenade beneath Slieve Donard. Meeting my old friend from London Mark for his son’s wedding in August. The fabulous setting and fun of Katrina and Mick’s wedding at Tankardstown House in September – what a joy to photograph the crowd at that reception! I could go on with so many more great memories of my weddings in Ireland this year.
And there were many more images that I could have included here but these particular photographs are my personal favourites. I hope that they will bring many years of happiness to my clients and their friends and families. It really is such an honour and privilege to be invited into such a special day in peoples lives. I’d like to thank all of my clients, friends and family for a great 2016!
I have one more wedding to shoot tomorrow in Virginia Park Lodge in County Cavan and after that Caroline and I will be travelling to France to spend some time with our family.
I’d like to wish all of our clients, supporters and followers a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
See you in 2017!
